The Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated computer technician to join our company. You will collaborate with other information technology professionals to implement and maintain computing, network, and infrastructure assets for our end users.
As a computer technician, you can put your passion for IT services to work by supporting our operations teams.
Responsibilities
Below are some of the responsibilities a computer technician is expected to take on:
Install network hardware in our CA and OR locations
Set up and install new computing hardware in our CA and OR locations
Use remote access software, such as TeamViewer, to install pre-approved software
Monitor and update the enterprise software approvals list based on feedback from senior information technology personnel
Provide phone and internet chat-based support for our help desk when you are not en route to or present on one of our campuses
Repair and troubleshoot computer systems, mobile, and networking hardware both on-site and post-recovery in our IT repairs lab in CA
QA device repairs and software installations based on our custom evaluation frameworks
Configure and maintain logs of machine issues, errors, and repairs by scanning the barcode on every machine evaluated and serviced
When supporting customers via chat, request they read the 16-digit unique device identifier to you so that you can access a support history
Verify the identity of any and all callers according to SOX requirements before carrying out any password change, remote computer access, software installation, or security bypass operations
Job Qualifications and Skill Sets
Below are the qualifications expected of a computer technician:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in an IT-related field such as computer science, technical support, and information technology
Proficiency in programs such as Active Directory, Microsoft PowerShell, and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum of two years experience in computer networks solutions, operating systems, or other IT-related positions
Attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Time management and organizational skills
Familiarity with HTML and command-line preferred
Knowledge of basic SOX compliance requirements
AA CompTIA A+ certification for computer technology (exclusions may apply, particularly for web-development computer technicians)
